Ethanol Expansion Program (EEP)

The Ethanol Expansion Program (EEP) aims to increase domestic production and use of ethanol, a renewable transportation fuel, and reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The EEP is providing contributions, with repayment terms, toward the construction financing of new or expansion fuel ethanol production facilities in Canada.

Contributions were allocated to proposed projects via two rounds of competitive solicitation in 2004 and 2005.


Round 2: Closed

Round 2 of the EEP was launched on December 6, 2004, and the deadline for proposals was February 22, 2005. Sixteen proposals from across Canada were received, and results were announced on July 6, 2005.

Round 1: Closed

Round 1 of the EEP was launched on October 20, 2003. Seventeen proposals from across Canada were received and results were announced on February 13, 2004.
