Winners will be announced on June 1st during the 2011 ENERGY STAR Participants' Meeting, to be held at the brand-new Ottawa Convention Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.

Celebrating ENERGY STAR Achievements – Canada's ENERGY STAR Market Transformation Awards recognize companies and organizations that have surpassed the competition in offering Canadian consumers the most energy-efficient product, technology or service available on the market.

What's in it for the Winner?

Winners of Canada's ENERGY STAR Market Transformation Awards gain the recognition and respect of their peers, competitors, employees, customers and all Canadians. They also receive a plaque commemorating their achievements and are featured in OEE marketing materials such as the Web site and newsletters.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for an award the company must meet these mandatory requirements:

  • the company or organization must be a registered and active Participant in the ENERGY STAR program in Canada.
  • activities must have taken place in Canada during 2010-2011.
  • the product's or technology's energy performance must have been verified based on the requirements of the technical specifications.
  • the product, technology or installation must meet applicable standards, codes and industry guidelines.
  • ALL support material – pamphlets, posters, advertising materials, training materials, booths, etc. – MUST comply with the ENERGY STAR identity requirements as stipulated in the Guidelines for Reproducing, Applying and Using ENERGY STAR Symbol in Canada.
  • ENERGY STAR for New Homes Participants should contact their service organizations to enquire about what awards are available for them.

What to Submit

Your submission needs to:

  1. Identify the award category that applies to your Participant Arrangement;
    1. ENERGY STAR Manufacturer of the Year (single product or multiple products)
    2. ENERGY STAR Retailer of the Year (national or regional)
    3. ENERGY STAR Advocates – utilities (large or local), distributors or general promoters) including governments or non-government organizations
  2. Contain a detailed description that highlights how one or more of the Five A's of market transformation has been met and should include the specific assessment criteria for each award category.
  3. Supply supporting material related to your proposal including the ENERGY STAR symbol in use in Canada, either as printed examples (maximum of 2 copies of each item) or on a CD as electronic files.

Based on the details contained in the submissions we receive, NRCan may choose to give additional recognition to Participants with the following awards: Promotional Campaign of the Year, Participant of the Year, Recruit of the Year, Collaborative Initiative of the Year and Sustained Excellence.

Submission Date – Has been extended

A complete electronic submission must be received no later than March 21, 2011. NRCan will acknowledge receipt no later than March 23, 2011. NRCan will not accept any submission after this date.

Any support material sent by mail must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2011.

How to Submit

Applications may no longer be submitted.

Supply supporting material related to your proposal including the ENERGY STAR symbol(s) used in Canada, either as printed examples (maximum of 2 copies of each item) or on a CD as electronic files. Examples of what to include – promotional materials, print advertisements, TV or radio ads, direct mail items, photographs of trade show booths, in-store promotions, testimonials or market research reports. Note: All these promotional items have to comply with the Guidelines for Reproducing, Applying and Using ENERGY STAR Symbol in Canada.

Confirmation of Receipt:

All submissions will be reviewed to ensure that they are complete. Entries will be confirmed within 48 hours by e-mail. If you do not receive confirmation of your submission within 3 days time, please contact the ENERGY STAR Awards Coordinator.
