Figure 2.1 depicts the energy consumption of Type 10 freezer models shipped in 2003 and shows where they stood in relation to the minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) implemented in 1995 and amended in 2001. The figure shows that all freezers met the MEPS and that many exceeded it. In 2003, the shipment-weighted average annual unit energy consumption of Type 10 freezers was 318 kWh.
