Patricia Baker, Professional Engineer, LEED AP – Prism Engineering Ltd.

Patricia Baker, energy engineer at Prism Engineering Ltd., has been conducting energy analyses and audits in the institutional, high-rise residential, industrial and commercial sectors for 5 years. Utilizing this experience, she has assisted in developing energy management workshops for municipal governments and energy auditing workshops, and assists in delivering training for Facility Energy Managers. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Ainaz Bozorgzadeh, Energy Engineer (Engineer-in-Training) – Prism Engineering Ltd.

At Prism Engineering Ltd., Ainaz has been involved with all aspects of utility monitoring and analysis, and provides support for energy audits and the evaluation of savings. She takes part in developing the Prism Utility Monitoring and Analysis (PUMA) Software as a service and has thorough knowledge of the Prism database and software capabilities. Ainaz provides support to all PUMA clients in understanding Monitoring, Targeting and Reporting features such as regression analysis and CUSUM. She has experience in municipal development projects, as well as building mechanical system design.

Pierre M.R. Chantraine, Professional Engineer – TdS Dixon team

Pierre Chantraine gained varied and extensive management experience during his 39-year career at DuPont Canada Inc. In his last 15 years, Pierre was responsible for energy conservation, recycling and environmental affairs at the company's Kingston site and also led the company's energy management team. Between 1998 and 2004, he helped negotiate a large energy-performance contract resulting in investments of over $50 million in energy conservation projects at five company locations. After retiring in 2004, Pierre has been active in energy management consulting in Canada, the U.S. and South Africa. Pierre holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering.

Trainer's Corner

Stephen D. P. Dixon, Master of Applied Sciences – TdS Dixon team

Stephen Dixon is a freelance technical consultant. As Principal of TdS Dixon Inc. of Ontario, he has more than 28 years of energy management experience in the industrial, commercial, government and utility sectors. Stephen has conducted more than 600 energy audits, facilitated over 700 energy management workshops, and designed/developed a variety of energy training systems that are currently used on at least four continents. Stephen holds a Master's degree of Applied Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics.

Iram Green, Energy Engineer (Engineer-in-Training) – Prism Engineering Ltd.

Iram is involved in all aspects of utility analysis and provides support for energy audits, analyses and evaluations of energy savings. He also carries out site reviews of installations and provides conceptual mechanical design and specifications for energy retrofits. His background in feasibility and risk analysis studies, combined with his keen interest in sustainability and energy efficiency, make him a valuable part of the energy team at Prism.

Robert Greenwald, Professional Engineer, MBA – Prism Engineering Ltd.

Robert Greenwald’s 20-year career has been focused on energy management. As President of Prism Engineering Ltd., he has developed high level energy action plans, determined energy management opportunities for electrical and mechanical systems, designed upgrades of HVAC and lighting systems, and has acted as an Energy Coach to support and sustain organizational Energy Management programs. He has completed hundreds of energy audits of commercial and institutional facilities and has presented over 200 Dollars to $ense workshops over the last ten years including workshops for organizations in health care, hospitality, office buildings, education, and industrial sectors. Robert holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Lauri C. Gregg, Professional Engineer – TdS Dixon team

Lauri Gregg was the Director of Energy Management for Falconbridge Limited until October of 2006 when he retired after 39 years of service. His responsibilities included the management of energy use, energy cost, and GHG emissions within the Canadian and international operations of the company. Lauri is currently the Principal of LCG Energy Management Group, which provides consulting services in the areas of energy / GHG management business process development, energy performance analysis, opportunity identification, and energy management training. Lauri holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

George Holland – TdS Dixon team

George Holland retired from DuPont Canada in 2004 after 32 years in accounting and finance roles at the plant, division and corporate levels. Working closely with Pierre Chantraine, George co-developed DuPont's Master Energy Service Agreement, which provided for over $50 million in “zero balance sheet impact” energy infrastructure renewal using a third-party energy performance contract (EPC) financing structure. George is the Principal of Energy Efficiency Facilitators Canada Inc., a company founded to assist industrial and institutional clients in successfully obtaining in-house energy project approval or in negotiating and implementing third-party energy performance contracts to finance their energy renewal projects. George holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a Major in Finance.

Brian O'Donnell, Professional Engineer – Prism Engineering Ltd.

Brian O’Donnell’s experience in energy management includes 30 years of improving building efficiency, comfort, and operational costs. As Principal of Prism Engineering Ltd., he is a pioneer of energy performance contracts in Canada, having designed one of the first, implemented by the Waterloo County Board of Education in 1985. Brian has prepared and presented over 120 full-day energy management workshops for nearly 1,500 building operators, managers, and maintenance personnel. He is the past chairman of GPC-4 of ASHRAE Technical Committee 1.7 (Building Operations Management), the past President of ASHRAE BC, and the past President of the local Association of Energy Engineers chapter. Brian holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Alvaro Reyes, Professional Engineer, Energy Engineer – Prism Engineering Ltd.

Alvaro is experienced in conducting energy studies – including energy data analysis, site work including identification of energy savings measures, quantification of savings, and performing life cycle costing of upgrade opportunities. Alvaro takes a hands-on approach, working closely with building operators to understand the operation of each building and to troubleshoot problems with building systems and controls. He also has experience in performing pre-feasibility studies of renewable energy technologies, such as solar water heating, photovoltaic, wind and wood pellet heating systems.

Sam Thomas, Energy Management Professional – Prism Engineering Ltd.

Sam’s background in energy management includes a broad spectrum of energy audits on commercial, industrial and institutional facilities. His experience also extends to feasibility studies of renewable energy technologies including solar and biomass, as well as detailed analysis of electricity and fuel tariffs. Sam has worked alongside clients to provide on-going energy management support, including continual monitoring, targeting and reporting to maximize energy savings and emission reductions. 

Garth J. White, Certified Energy Manager, Industrial Electrician, CME – TdS Dixon team

Garth White is a freelance energy management coach. Over the past two decades, Garth has assisted a diverse portfolio of clients, including governmental parties, energy suppliers and market authorities, in integrating sustainable energy management practices in their organization. He has participated in over 200 energy end-use and management system assessments and facilitated of over 700 energy management workshops spanning three continents. In 2000, Garth was awarded a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) accreditation by the Association of Energy Engineers, of which he has also been designated a Life Member. Garth holds two college degrees; one in Electrical Trades and the other in Buildings Systems.

Brad Wong, Professional Engineer, Energy Engineer – Prism Engineering Ltd.

Brad has more than a decade of experience in building systems, specializing in building automation systems. He has extensive experience with troubleshooting and optimizing control systems. His energy management experience includes energy data analysis, energy audits, retro-commissioning studies, and identifying & quantifying energy saving measures on commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. He also involves in preparing energy proposals and specifications for implementing energy measures.

Ian Ball, Master of Applied Sciences, LEED AP – TST Energy Systems Inc. (Team GES Technologies inc.)

Ian Ball is a building engineer and Chief of Commissioning at TST Energy Systems Inc. He started his career in 1991 as a construction engineer in Hong Kong. In 1994, he returned to Quebec and continued his career as a project manager on heat recovery projects and was involved in their design, installation, load calculations, controls, commissioning and monitoring. Between 2004 and 2011, Ian worked on numerous projects dealing with energy efficiency, commissioning and LEEDTM certification. Since joining TST in 2011, Ian is responsible for commissioning and recommissioning services. He holds a Master's degree in Applied Sciences.

Benoit Beauchamp Ph.D., junior Engineer., Certified Energy Manager, Certified Measurement and Verification Professional – TST Energy Systems Inc. (Team GES Technologies inc.)

Benoit Beauchamp is a Project Manager at TST Energy Systems Inc. Benoit holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from l’École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) and he has more than eight years of teaching and research experience at the university level and for the Réseau des ingénieurs du Québec. He has realized numerous research projects for industry partners relating to energy efficiency, heat transfer, instrumentation and testing.

Sebastiano DePani, Engineer, Master of Applied Sciences – TST Energy Systems Inc. (Team GES Technologies inc.)

Sebastiano DePani is an energy engineer and senior project manager with the firm TST Energy Systems Inc. For almost 20 years now, Sebastiano has assisted clients with the control and optimization of their energy costs. He has delivered over a hundred workshops dealing with energy management and energy simulation software. In addition, he often participates as a speaker, consultant and/or analyst for numerous organizations. Sebastiano received Hydro Québec’s Excellence MIEUX CONSOMMER award in 2009 in the consultant category. He holds a Master of Applied Science degree from Concordia University.

Dino Gerbasi, Engineer, Master of Applied Sciences – Ameresco Canada (Team GES Technologies inc.)

Dino Gerbasi is a building engineer and Director of Asset Management with Ameresco Canada. Mr. Gerbasi began his career as an engineer in 1991, specializing in building sciences and energy efficiency for SIRICON. Soon after, he developed an interest for building operations, and eventually took part in projects pertaining to energy optimization, capital planning and the development of software based on life-cycle costing. Since joining Ameresco Canada in March 2010, he has been overseeing the development and implementation of Asset Planner, a software for tracking building performance and planning capital investments, in Quebec and Eastern Canada. Dino holds a Master's degree in Applied Sciences.
