Energy Efficiency Ratings Dry-type Transformers
![]()
Distribution transformers reduce the voltage of the electricity supplied by the utility's substation to a level that is suitable for use by industrial, commercial and residential customers. Liquid-type transformers are used by electrical utilities to supply electricity to all users. Dry-type transformers, in comparison, are used for many indoor commercial and small industrial applications.
Since January 1, 2005, dry-type distribution transformers are subject to Canada's Energy Efficiency Act and Regulations. These require that dry-type transformers in Canada meet minimum energy performance levels and report energy efficiency verified performance data to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).
Transformers listed below have been energy efficiency verified by a third party as required by the Regulations.
