Efficiency Nova Scotia Corporation helps homeowners and businesses use energy better. The Home Energy Assessment program provides an energy assessment of a home by a Certified Energy Advisor at a subsidized cost of $200. This pre-retrofit assessment gives the homeowner customized recommendations to improve on efficiency such as adding insulation, replacing windows and doors and draft proofing. For electrically heated homes there is a maximum of $3,000 in rebates available and for non-electric homes there’s up to $1,500 available.

New home builders can take advantage of Performance Plus which provides a valuable energy analysis to help customers earn rebates. For new homes built to Energuide ratings of 83 or more, there is up to $7,000 in rebates available (dependent on final rating).

The Instant Savings program provides in-store discounts on household ENERGY STAR® qualified products, from CFL and LED lights to refrigerators and clothes washers. This offer is available in the spring and fall each year.

Businesses can access equipment rebates through Business Energy Rebates. Approved products include qualified motors and variable speed drives, IT/ data center products, commercial HVACs, refrigeration products, compressed air equipment, agriculture technologies and commercial kitchen and laundry equipment.

With a free initial assessment, small businesses can improve on energy efficiency such as adding fluorescent lighting, occupancy sensors & lighting controls, high efficiency ECM motor replacements and refrigeration economizers. Up to 80% of this cost can be covered through Business Energy Solutions.

Technical assistance, financial incentives and financing for New Construction or Custom Projects are also available, which may include rebates on ENERGY STAR® qualified products.

BC Hydro Power Smart Appliance Rebate Program is offering rebates on the purchase of select ENERGY STAR qualified appliances: $75 for clothes washers, $50 for refrigerators, $25 for dishwashers and $25 for freezers. FortisBC offers all its customers an incentive for energy efficient air-source heat pumps through the PowerSense Air Source Heat Pump Program. For qualifying models, the financial incentives will consist of either a rebate or financing of up to $5,000 over 10 years at 4.9% fixed rate. In Québec, Gaz Métro gives its residential customers whose primary heat source is natural gas a financial incentive for new high energy efficient ENERGY STAR qualified windows and patio doors, according to their residing climate zone.

In addition, Gaz Métro offers financial assistance of $ 700 to purchase a high-efficiency ENERGY STAR qualified boiler. And, also offers financial assistance for the purchase of a tankless or storage water heater, depending on utilisation mode (system combo) or domestic hot water only).

The Energy Efficiency Fund will offer owners of residences supplied by Gaz Métro for heating purposes a $5 per square feet rebate with the purchase of high energy efficiency ENERGY STAR windows and sliding doors, up to maximum of $500.

Manitoba Hydro's Commercial Kitchen Appliance Program offers rebates for ENERGY STAR qualified steamers and fryers for restaurants and foodservice establishments: $2,500 per steamer, $1,250 per fryer. Complete details on eligibility and qualified models can be found on the website.

Manitoba Hydro's Commercial Clothes Washers Program, offers an incentive for its commercial customers that purchase and install ENERGY STAR qualified front-loading commercial clothes washers in their business or facility. For more information, please visit the website.

Efficiency NB, a crown corporate of the Government of New Brunswick, promotes ENERGY STAR qualified appliances and products in its public education initiatives as well as providing an ENERGY STAR Package Incentive Bonus as a component of its
New Homes Program.

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Newfoundland Power's take CHARGE ENERGY STAR® Window Rebate Program offers a rebate for ENERGY STAR qualified windows where you receive $2.00 cash back for each square foot of window installed.Visit takechargenl.ca for a complete details and other rebates through the ENERGY SAVERS Programs.

The Government of the Northwest Territories Energy Efficiency Incentive Program helps consumers to purchase more energy efficient products. The purchase of a new ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerator (larger than 7.5 cubic feet) or a new ENERGY STAR qualified front-loading clothes washer qualifies for a $400 rebate for customers with diesel or natural gas generated electricity or a $50 rebate for customers with hydro. The NTW also offers various rebates for the purchase and installation of ENERGY STAR qualified furnaces or boilers, Climate Zone D windows and doors, water heaters or high efficient, ENERGY STAR qualified heat recovery ventilators. Toronto Hydro's residential new construction incentive offers builders who install ENERGY STAR qualified fixtures in new residential buildings an incentive of $15 per fixture. Saskatchewan Programs:
The Saskatchewan EnerGuide for Houses Program offers grants for energy efficient upgrades, such as ENERGY STAR qualified heating and ventilation systems, insulation, air conditioners, water heaters, doors, windows, light fixtures, clothes washers and gas dryers. Homeowners must have a pre-retrofit evaluation completed by June 30, 2013 to enter the program and must complete their energy retrofits and have a post-retrofit evaluation completed within 18 months from the date of their pre-retrofit report, or by October 31, 2013, whichever comes first.

Homeowners also benefit from a PST exemption when purchasing a new qualifying ENERGY STAR rated furnace, boiler, ground & air source heat pump (PDF, 36 KB). Qualifying ENERGY STAR electrical refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and clothes washers are also exempt from PST (PDF, 26 KB).

For commercial customers, the SaskEnergy Network Commercial HVAC and Commercial Boiler Programs available until November 30, 2013, provides incentives for installing or upgrading to high efficiency space conditioning equipment in commercial applications.

Hydro-Québec offers financial incentives in the amount of $10 for the purchase of ENERGY STAR qualified LED fixtures. The offer is part of the Residential Lighting consumer program which promotes energy efficient technologies. Visit the Website for the list of participating retailers.
