The values for steam and wood are for estimation purposes only. Steam energy content varies with pressure and feed water temperature, and the calculator uses the industry accepted estimate used when exact steam conditions are not known (1000 Btu/lb or 2.33 MJ/kg). The heating value of wood varies based on density, moisture, and ash content.
