EnerGuide Rating System
Since the launch of the EnerGuide Rating System for new homes and existing homes, over 34,000 participants have attended training supported by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). The successful delivery of NRCan’s Housing Programs would not be possible without the dedicated network of service organizations, builders and energy advisors that promote labelling of houses using energy performance standards. There are over 1,800 licensed builders that have participated in the new housing program and over 2,000 energy advisors trained to evaluate the energy performance of existing housing stock.
NRCan is a proven leader in the energy efficiency sector having labelled and rated over 750,000 homes to date, including participants in new housing programs, the ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homesgrant and complementary regional programs.
ENERGY STAR® for New Homes
Over 20,000 houses have been labelled through the ENERGY STAR for New Homes initiative. Those houses have helped families save money on their energy bills and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features such as style and comfort of the home.
R-2000 Standard
For almost 30 years, builders have been involved in building R-2000 certified houses. Over 13,000 R-2000 homes have been built and certified and close to 900 builders have been licensed to build R-2000 homes.
